Comprehensive Quality Assurance Workshop: Mastering Principles and Techniques of Quality Assurance in Higher Education
A Practical Workshop: Practical applications in quality assurance
As part of its commitment to supporting the capacity of quality assurance professionals, INQAAHE is pleased to present a full-day workshop, divided into two modules (Workshops 2 and 3), on the fundamentals of quality assurance. first session is designed to equip both new and seasoned professionals with a holistic understanding of its history, theory, key issues, core concepts, and contemporary challenges. The second session provides practical training on quality assurance structure and practices. While both parts are complementary, they are distinct, and participants can choose to attend one or both workshops.
The afternoon session (Workshop 3) will provide an in-depth exploration of governance structures and implementation practices that support robust quality cultures. Topics covered will include regional and international frameworks, evaluation frameworks and practices in external and internal quality assurance. Participants will learn how to establish and maintain effective governance structures and acquire the ability to tailor strategies to align with the specific needs and goals of their respective jurisdictions or contexts. Through case studies and interactive activities, participants will gain practical insights into creating policies and procedures that promote a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with international standards and regulatory requirements.

Dr. Mary Catharine Lennon
Mary Catharine Lennon, PhD, has an academic and professional background in international and comparative higher education research and policy development in areas including system design, accountability, quality assurance, and evaluation. She is the Head of Research, International and Special Projects at the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board of Ontario (PEQAB), a two-term Board Director of the International Network of Quality Assurance in Higher Education (INQAAHE) and chairs the Marjorie Lenn Peace Centre for Research and Capacity Building in Quality Assurance. Dr. Lennon also holds an appointment with the Canadian and International Higher Education Centre at OISE/University of Toronto, where she also lectures on Governance in Higher Education.
Dr. Fabrizio Trifiro
Dr Fabrizio Trifiró is Head of Stakeholder Engagement and International Quality Reviews at Ecctis, the agency that manages the qualification recognition function (UK ENIC) on behalf of the UK Government. He is also a member of the British Accreditation Council (BAC) Accreditation Committee.
Fabrizio joined Ecctis in 2019 after over 10 years with the UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) where he led on the quality assurance of UK TNE and the international student experience. In 2022 Fabrizio supported as an independent expert the Office for Students (OfS) in developing their international engagement work around TNE.
Fabrizio is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Network of Quality Assurance in Higher Education (INQAAHE), and an independent member of the Governing Board of Wrexham University in Wales.
With two decades of experience in international higher education and its regulation Fabrizio has acted as independent consultant to a number of quality assurance bodies and international organisations.
